 Edie:  I'm not based in a hospital, so I can't give you "our" policy.
However, when Dr. Marcovich presented at the LLL-USWD conference last year,
she stated that the first colostrum their babies receive is immediately
after birth on a sterile swab-stick (Q-tip to those in the US) wipped on
their tongue and mouth!  She said that they so firmly believe in the power
of colostrum that even a few miniscule specks make a difference in the
baby's immune system.
