I have a client who is mom to twins born 11/18. Borth babies have already
doubled birth weights Mom has been told by multiple sources that she should
be taking in ~3,000 calories/day. She seems to be getting many of her
calories via high fat foods such as ice cream, sour cream, and salad
dressings...I realize her life has been pretty sedentary since the kids
arrived, and that is one of the things we discussed. She is walking daily
to get back in shape for fitness testing at her workplace, the US Forest
Service, to which she returns next week.
I would like your input, as this mom is gaining weight, and is not pleased
about it. I gave her various suggestions, but would welcome any of your
ideas. My main question is: are moms to multiples "supposed" to eat that
many calories per day?

Thanks!
