My first thought is that perhaps mom is simply not letting down for the pump
due to the stress of being home with a new baby (especially when there are
breastfeeding issues). Perhaps talk to the mom and find out what has been
going on the past 2 days at home. Has she had a lot of visitors, is she
trying to do too much, is she feeling overwhelmed, etc. I find many moms
need reminding that their one and only job should be to look after their
baby, and their own needs. Everything else can wait or be done by someone
else. I often encourage moms who are pumping to cover the bottles either
with their shirt or a light blanket so that they're not focused on how much
is (or isn't) in the bottles. Some moms get so worried that they're not
pumping enough, that they don't let down because they're so tense.
