This sounds like a fairly typical problem that moms with hospitalized
infants wind up with - low milk supply from the lack of breast
stimulation while they are focused on the baby's illness. The true cure
is to bring the milk supply up. How about supplementing at the breast,
and pumping immediately after nursing to help get milk for the
supplemental device at the next feeding? Do you have access to a
syringe and feeding tube mom can use at breast? Or a commercial device
to give the baby extra milk at breast until the supply increases?
Domperidone or other galactogogues could be helpful as well.
