We also can't be sure that the lack of breastfeeding contributed to 
neurologically based issues, as it is common for infants with 
neurological problems to have difficulty breastfeeding. Beware of "post 
hoc, ergo propter hoc" reasoning (followed, therefore caused by). There 
is only one study of breastfeeding and autism. The children with autism 
did have more very early abandonment of breastfeeding, but this could be 
chicken or egg. While I have absolutely no doubt that breastfeeding and 
human milk nurture the human nervous system optimally, it might not be 
enough to overcome genetics. We certainly need more research.
