I am working with a mom who is chronically taking 4mg Dilaudid per day and
80 mg of oxycontin every 8 hours (this is way above the recommended adult
dose of 20 mg per day)She is taking 240 mg of this per day. She takes this
EVERY day and plans to be on it forever for chronic back pain from a car
accident. She has taken these medications while pregnant, 1 pediatrician
told her she can not nurse, one told her it was ok, her OB said it was OK...
she wants the "final" word from me..... I am going to talk to her about pain
clinics and other ways of managing her pain. I have looked both of these up
in Tom Hales book and I wouldn't have any qualms about a mom using these
short term..... but long term??? I appreciate any input you have. Thanks so
much!
Cindy
