Cathy commented that, "people who work for formula companies do not
allow themselves to believe that there are significant risks to using
formula."
And "It's when the evidence begins to become overwhelming and people
still act against the public good that self-delusion ends and true evil
creeps in." These caught my eye because of a situation here. Two LC's
who are friends are barred from seeing patients of a particular doctor
because one of the LC's talked to a mother about supplementing (mother
was considering) and told her the pro's and con's of doing that at that
particular time. The doc (and medical director) took issue with the
"con's" part. He said he didn't believe that there is any risk in using
formula. His comment was that only the "radical fringe" believe that!
The LC drew up a t-i-c tee shirt that had two *strategically-placed*
bulls-eye targets with fringe in the middle and the words "radical
fringe" on the back that was just hilarious. I'm afraid that, despite
all the DHHS and AAP (and many others) statements about the superiority
of breastmilk and the risk of formula, there are still doctors who say
this kind of thing and ignore research with the words, "I don't
believe/agree with it." And they get away with it!

Marsha, who is being mindful of who might be listening!
