Thanks to everyone who responded to my request for help/insight. Unfortunately mom has decided to give up the breastfeeding. Monday was her fist day back at work. It was a 24 hour call day. She also had 2 eight hour office days and another 24 hour call day this week(she is a midwife). She did not think she would be able to do the elimination diet and the formula rep offered her free Nutramigen. Although her daughter was having terrible loose stools on the Nutramigen and still having bad gas. I encouraged her to continue pumping to make sure Molly tolerated the formula and to leave her window open in case she changed her mind once they were out of crisis mode. She says once she dries up she may try to comfort nurse her on an empty breast.
I am so very sad for this mom and more sad for her baby.
