My question is why circumcision is performed on these young babies
before breastfeeding is established if there is information available to
the public that suggests that it can interfere with bonding, proper feeding
techniques, and it can be performed at a later date after breastfeeding has
been established.
Good question Jennifer. I do not believe there is a good answer. A bad answer
would be that it is more convenient for the HCPs to get the circ done in the
hospital, insurance issues, etc.

What will it take to change this practice of early circs that are a known
detriment to establishing BF and therefore the hydration, nutrition, and
well-being of infants?

.......hmmm, articles like your posted on LN and then published more widely,
public and insurance company education of the issues, a few good peds in key
AAP positions, some research and documention ie; infants who were making early
progress with BF before being circ'ed then subsequently hospitalized during
the first week with dehydration/increased bilis, hospitals that just decide not
to facilitate early circs..........
