Hello all,
I was wondering if anyone has information for patients wanting to use donor human milk from friends. What does everyone think? I'm sure ILCA probably has a policy. My opinion is that they should be using a human milk bank, but I keep running across people who want to use milk donated from friends. I can understand that for some people using a milk bank can be cost prohibitive at $18 per 4 oz bottle, but I just feel like its not a good idea. To cover myself for liability reasons, I always give them a speech about things that can potentially transmit through breastmilk and recommend using a milk bank, but then it's there choice. Would love to hear what others think, or their experiences with this.
