I grew up in an Italian household. At my grandparents for Holidays it was
always on the table. As well as other times too. If i wanted to taste it no
one thought a thing of it. Iwas just a kid. I don't know of anyone these days
who would let a 9 or 10 year old drink a sip or two of wine. No adults ever
got drunk to my knowledge. Unfortunately for me, wine gives me heartburn so
I just don't drink it. It was very much a cultural experience for me. So many
of my other friends parents either drank too much or not at all. I think some
other motives are feeding into this grandma. Leave poor mom alone. This is a
6 month old baby and not a newborn. In my opinion, wine and with most
anything else in life, in moderation I see no problem. Balance is the key. A
glass in the evening, and not the whole bottle....etc. It was common when I
grew up, and I know my mom had a glass here and there. No she wasn't an
alcoholic, and I think I grew up okay...:) thats up for discussion.. I could take
it or leave it.
