For edema, I suggest the moms avoid salty foods and 'soft drinks'
(carbonated canned drinks), eat cucumber and watermelon if available, and
consider a one time dose of a diuretic by prescription (doctor or nurse
practitioner to prescribe).
I use reverse pressure softening and avoid dependent positions of the
breasts.
Re the propel drink: yes a controlled study is indicated. it may just be
coincidence that the moms came to you around the 5th day engorged and
edematous, and were going to naturally diurese around day 6 which coincided
w/ the propel drink. or it could actually be helping. look forward to your
study.
