With regard to giving out email addresses: yes, I think we can get too
paranoid about this. I am sorry, but I do not see what all the fuss is
about. When a mother contacts me and I feel that an LC can be of more help
to her, I give her the LC's phone number. I feel that an email number is
even _less_ invasive of privacy, and (in case anyone is worried about crank
calls - I had one by phone the other day) the person transmitting is
*traceable*. Personally, I also inform the LC myself that I had referred
someone to her. Obviously the LC would make it clear to the mother that she
cannot consult by phone or email, but at least the initial contact has been
made and an appointment could be set up. Email is one remove from phone
contact, IMNSHO.
