the animals used for this comparison are as follows (in order of
closeness to human milk composition) horse, cow, reindeer, goat and
sheep.

Interestingly, my father told me horse milk was the next best milk to
human milk 29 years ago when I was nursing my first daughter. As my
surviving parent, he came for a visit when she was
5 weeks old and was the breastfeeding support person that got me to be
uninhibited about nursing her in public. Now deceased, he was born in
1914 in Hungary and had horses as a young man as cars were few and far
between in their small town. I do not know where he got this knowledge
as he had little education.
