I am a CLC (Yes I took the one week "WONDER" course) referred to in a previous
post. I also have worked for an IBCLC in private practice for over 2 years
now.

I must say that I am quite aware of my limitations an make sure to tell any
client that I am dealing with the difference between CLC and IBCLC. If there
is a situation that is beyond my knowledge or ablility I refer them on to my
employer, search for the information or I consult with the people on Lactnet.

In working toward becoming IBCLC, I need the CLC certification-in my little
niche of the lactation world it enables me to a) back up my employer, who is
able to handle more of the serious problems because I can handle answering the
minor phone calls and b) get the needed clinical hours so that I can sit the
exam.

Please don't base you opinion of every one who has taken the CLC course (Or
the CLE course as I plan on taking it next :) ) on the persons who are giving
misinformation in the hospital setting in one area. Some of us really are
conscientious and ethical persons who really do care enough to get the correct
info and pass  it on, and some of us are big enough to admit when we dont know
something. And some of us really to have something to contribute to the bigger
picture
