Dear Gerri

I have asked two of my staff members if the Koran states that a woman must
stop breastfeeding when her baby is two years old and neither of them are
aware of any injunction in the Koran. Both folk are very devout and read the
Koran.

What I can tell you form personal experience, is that in Indonesia thousands
of woman do continue to breastfeed beyond 2 years of age. To put this in
perspective, Indonesia has a population roughly the same as the USA and 90%
of folks are Muslim. This to me implies religous practices relating to age
of weaning would be apparent in the community. I have never come across this
issue.

Kind Regards
