I think that breastfeeding is an important part of *any* package, and
that we shouldn't assume that there is any one package that works for
all families living in all circumstances.

I am sure your friend has some good, valid reasons to have a different
understanding of what kind of supervision / parenting / expectations are
possible in her situation, just as you and I each have our own approach
to marriage, mothering and family life.

I find it easiest to work with mothers and babies when I start with the
assumption that they are doing their best. I admit there have been lots
of times that I have thought, "I wouldn't do that" -- but then *I* do a
lot of things I wouldn't have thought I would do ten years ago or even
ten minutes ago.  Interestingly, I have been able to confirm, in every
single case, that the mothers I work with want what is best for their
babies.
