Today on KSL, which is one of the largest radio and TV stations in Utah,
there was an hour-long debate about Carolyn Maloney's breastfeeding bills.
They discussed breast feeding in public, health and economic benefits, if
there are Utah companies which currently provide accomodations for nursing
or pumping, whether or not there should be a tax break for those providing
accomodations, how long one should continue to breastfeed, etc. etc.

I was pleasantly surprised! It could hardly have been called a public
debate since the moderator and the callers were almost uniform in their
support of breast feeding and breast milk vs formula and bottles. They
pretty much agreed that breastfeeding should take place anyplace the mother
needed to feed.
The most glaring negative, was that the radio commentator kept asking for
people to call in who knew of companies that already were providing
breastfeeding support to their employees. He wanted to give them a pat on
the back. Nobody called in ----except me to say that Intermountain Health
Care Hospitals DO provide time and a place for employees to pump. I also
managed to get in my 2 cents worth about health and economic benefits, etc.
It was a breath of fresh air, frankly, even though there were a couple of
comments about "there is only one word about when to stop breastfeeding, and
that is 'TEETH'!" OOOOOOHHHH. I almost called back again!
