I remember al long time ago, reading that "chaste root" was a good herb
for milk production, but never could find any. I learned only recently
that "vitex" is another name for it.
I have used vitex successfully in the past for symptoms of PMS, like
breast swelling and tenderness, depression, etc., and have just gotten
back on it recently. I wish I had know sooner that it was chaste root
so I could have tried taking it when I was nursing my adopted babies.
Since I didn't, I can't speak from experience on that. However, in
seems that, at least with adoptive mothers, anything that would help
keep estrogen levels in balance might at least help decrease the
fluctuation in milk supply that most adoptive mothers experience related
to their cycles.
Aloha,
Darillyn
