I am so happy to hear of her results. I have no problem getting moms to use coconut oil, but seem to have encountered a lot of resistance from other LCs over the years. It finally seems to be falling away. Most often my clients need no other treatment. Coconut oil is very good for the skin. Most of my clients who start with coconut oil continue to use it bc it is healing and soothing. I have not been nursing a baby for 6 years now and I still use coconut oil on my skin everyday. I am not worried about the baby--I used it all the years I was nursing Leo--6 years. Using it tends to keep women from using skin lotions which are often toxic.

Subject: Thrush and coconuts

Just wanted express gratitude to the Lactnet community for the discussion on

coconut oil. When it was mentioned a month or so ago it caught my eye. My

daughter has been dealing with persistent thrush for over six months...it

has been cultured twice and confirmed diagnosis and specific

prescriptions...not to mention all the otc treatments either of us had heard

of. Her baby is 18 months and unaffected. The infection was severe enough

to cause our local bf MD to grab her camera for pics! My brain-storm was to

try a tanning bed which actually was working until it suddenly flared up

again. BUT the coconut oil seems to have done the job! Three weeks symtom

free and healing complete...however, she is afraid to stop using the coconut

oil now! I can't say I blame her! Any problem with her continuing to use

it?

Thank you!
