Infants with G-6PD deficiency and/or hyperbilirubinemia are more susceptible
to nitrofuranetoin toxicity.
Infants under one month of age would be more prone to have
hyperbilirubinemia or may not yet be diagnosed with G-6PD deficiency, so
that may be the reason for Tom Hale's precaution.
