The supplements listed (Glutamine, Glucosamine, Lipoic Acid, L.
Acidopholus, L. Bifidus, Cats
Claw, Ginko, Licorice Root, Jerusalem Artichoke, Slippery Elm, Oligomeric
Proantho...,Grape seeds, Betaine, L-Glutamic Acid, Papain, Pepsin,
Pancreatin, Pancrelipase, Parotid) in Holly's post about the mother who was
wanting to resume using them for her ulcerative colitis are a mixture of
amino acids (shouldn't cause any concern whatsoever), enzymes (probably
wouldn't make it into the milk as far as I understand them) and other
substances with which I am less familiar. I do know that intake of licorice
root in large amounts has been shown to be toxic to the nursling in at least
one case. It is an ingredient in some of the herbal teas sold as
'breastfeeding teas', purportedly to increase supply and soothe the baby.
Too much licorice can be a little too soothing: the baby in the case
described was lethargic and was admitted to hospital for observation. Baby
recovered when the tea was stopped.

As Sharon Knorr mentioned, she could try taking small amounts of her own
milk, for its anti-inflammatory properties.
