Well, Winnie, this is a good question. We have found that not only do many
folks NOT read the initial message, or the rotational probe messages, but
they also don't read much of anything besides what they want to in terms of
clinical stuff, and they blithely send commands and requests for help to
whatever address they can think of at the time.

It used to be an ok thing, because there were a few of us and say 500 of
you all. Now we are around 3000 subscribers, and people are less careful,
as evidenced by the huge number of requests we have to take care of every
day. I know that my colleagues (volunteers all and listmoms) have
children, paying work, and other responsibilities, and we simply do not
have the time to sit and answer the same question times a zillion. It's
repetitive, boring, and maddening, to tell you the honest truth.

Sorry to clog up your inbox. If people were more careful, we would be able
to consider alternatives, and perhaps pare it down. It's just not enough
these days to send someone a message that begins with "KEEP A COPY OF THIS.
YOU'LL NEED IT IN THE FUTURE, etc."

Maybe we can change this in the future, Let's see how it goes for a
bit. Not wanting to do it, but I just don't have a choice right at the moment.
