I want to thank Pat and Debbie for responding so quickly.

I was thinking mom had the milk.  Usual lack of good support in hospital, and
L.C. wasn't available on weekend.  Mom had sore Nipples, mom was also treated
for thrush.  Mom said she lost a bit more blood than usual after birth.  They
kept her awhile before moving her to her room.  She was having clotting
problems.  She said it wasn't that much blood loss, and she did become
engorged with milk, so I don't think that's the problem either.

The 1 ounce weight gain of baby  was over one feeding done at the hospital.
I was also concerned about some sort of metabolic problem---stools are
typical for good breastfeeding.  Some diapers are blowouts, some are small.
I asked mom if doctors have ruled out any medical concerns.  She said the
doctors have ruled out any medical problems without doing any tests.
