Hi everyone,

Do you know any African American nursing moms who might be willing to donate a breastmilk sample for important breast cancer research?

I work with Dr. Kathleen Arcaro at the University of Massachusetts on her breast cancer research, which involves using breastmilk to study breast cancer risk. In the future her findings may help us assess an individual woman's risk of breast cancer, and even prevent and treat breast cancer.

Why African American women? To date African American women have been underrepresented in our study samples. It's important that findings from this research apply to ALL women, and since African American women have a different pattern of breast cancer, it's especially important that they're well represented.

Mothers participating in this research are sent a collection kit, fill out a questionnaire and consent form, and mail it back with their milk to the lab.

*Interested mothers should contact Beth Punska at (413) 545-0813 or [log in to unmask]*

For more information about the study please see our website: www.breastmilkresearch.org

Thank you!
