To all especially our Canadian contengency.
I have a young mother who is mentally somewhat delayed and has epillepsy but
is now breastfeeding a second child very well. The cause of her seizures now
seem to be equated with stress.
To make a long story short, my question is this
In Canada or specifically in Ontario, has anyone any knowledge CAS's
authority in taking a breastfeeding baby away from its mother? This is a
good mother in all respects expect proper stimulation for her odder child
and Public health is really helping her out with this. This isn't all there
is to the story but I really first want to know about what resources we
might have and if there is a law.
My gut feeling is that they need to offer more services rather than talking
about removing the child. It will cost them more in money and in
mother/infant health if the baby is removed.
Any help would be appreciated even south of this border.
Attie
