Regarding the BMJ article response in which a doctor claimed better
weight gain when babies were switched to feeding every 3 hours for
10-15 mins per breast --

He should know better than to try to pass off an anecdotal report as
evidence. Surely many of us could just as easily share stories of
babies whose weight gain improved when they were taken OFF such
feeding schedules, and switched to feeding on cue, finishing the
first breast first. Most babies who are cue-fed gain weight
perfectly well, and many put on a pound a week or even more. So I'd
like to see the doctor's population put up against "my" team! :-)

We can't know which approach is 'more correct' until someone studies
it carefully. (Has anyone? The issue of schedule vs. cue feeding
has certainly been much discussed since Babywise hit the mainstream.)
But I'll place my bets on the approach that is biologically
appropriate, not to mention supported by nearly 50 years of
successful nursing mothers' experiences (LLL).
