Here's my letter. One of these will surely be published.

Dear Editor:

I am writing in response to Betsy Hart's article in the Lawrence Eagle
Tribune (California allows moms to breast-feed anywhere). She is right to
say that a major victory was won, though it is unfortunate that women
nowadays need such legal protection. In many other cultures, men, women, and
children would not even give public breastfeeding a second thought, much less
a second look. Women should not have to run to breastfeeding lounges to feed
their children. Bottlefeeding mothers are not directed to back rooms. This
is such an immature attitude!!

I find her labeling the proponents of the bill as "breast-feeding Nazis" to
be highly offensive and inappropriate.
Ms. Hart is concerned about "careless, flagrant, cavalier, or downright
offensive" behavior. Her article was careless, flagrant, cavalier, and
downright offensive to me.

Sincerely,
Laurie Wheeler, RNC, MN, IBCLC
