I would ask the baby's doctor how quickly they can get results, and why she
could not let the baby nurse until then.

I can explain about the dairy.  It is fine for mom to eat dairy because
gaLACTOSEmia is a problem with digesting milk SUGAR (lactose) which is
present in humand and cow milk.  They need to limit the child's dairy intake
to limit lactose intake.  It oudl nto matter if the mom ate dairy while
nursing...it will not change her breastmilk lactose.
