I would be getting a paed r/v and making certain that there is no GI abnormalities asap. I heard a story very similar to this a few years back and the baby's colon was twisted, over weeks it got worse and worse and eventually the baby died. The paed refused to do any extensive testing though making out the parents were typical first timers...:(  The baby presented in a very similar way to what you described and it started on day 1.

Hope you get it worked out sooner rather than later. Love to this family too.
