NEW MOTHER NURSES WRONG BABY AT MASSACHUSETTS HOSPITAL

A new mother at Lowell General Hospital in Lowell, Massachusetts, realized she
had been given the wrong baby to nurse when she went to change her son's
diaper
and discovered that the child was a girl. Hospital officials said a nurse's
aide woke the woman early Sunday and gave her the wrong baby. The woman's son
was still sleeping in the hospital nursery with about 15 other babies. Norm
Deschene, the hospital's executive vice president and chief operating officer,
apologized to both families and said the hospital was investigating.

"A real serious breach of security"

Certainly a good encouragement for rooming in. I'm in Boston, maybe I'll
hear more ramifications on this situation.
A little extra colostrum is probably not a bad thing, though, I'm sure no
one at that hospital, parents especially, will see it that way. And who
can blame them? I'd be upset if it were my baby.
