I have permission to post to request any suggestions from LacNet's collective
wisdom for this Mom and baby. Baby is 12 wks. old and has been having bright
red blood specks seen in stool since for the last 6 weeks. Parents see this in
diaper every other day or so. Mother says that baby is having only wet stains
in diaper, no real consistency to stools. She is calling this diarrhea. The
color she says is oranges red. Peds are recommending her to wean to a
specialized formula. Mother has done a dairy and soy and egg elimination diet for 2 1/2
weeks now with no visible results. Baby is gassy she says but is gaining
well.
She does not want to wean but feels somewhat pressured by Peds. She is to
take the baby to see a pediatric gastroenterologist within the next week. Any
suggestions would be helpful. I did a full LacNet Archive search. Mother said
that no mucous was visible. So from my search I cannot help but wonder if this is
more possibly a fissure than an allergy.
Thank you in advance for your help.
