If anyone is aware of any issues with liability coverage and/or how your hospital RN's/IBCLC's are hired, your response is appreciated as we are researching these issues in our hospital.

For example: are IBCLC's considered outpatient/support staff? Or do they function as other RN's in the hospital?

Are your IBCLC's covered by hospital insurance liability or do they carry their own liability insurance?

As far as salary, are your hospital IBCLC's paid the same as other staff RN's? Or do they differ due to being considered outpatient/support staff?

If, considered outpatient/support staff, do you work weekends and/or holidays?

Has anyone experienced any lawsuits with their hospital? How was the liability insurance coverage handled?

Thank you for your comments and input! Feel free to respond to my personal email.

Kind regards,
Sharon "Sam" Randlett-Major, BS, RN, IBCLC
