But it takes time to see the whole picture.  It is so much easier,
especially when being pushed into seeing as many patients as
possible in the shortest possible time, to just look at a number,
spout off a "diagnosis" and "cure" and on to the next patient!

There are docs who will take all the time needed to see the entire
picture, but unfortunately in some cases, especially if they are in
a large medical group or covered by some HMOs, if the doc doesn't
run a patient through in the alloted time, they are called on the
carpet.  The "Normal Rockwell" type of doc is becoming harder to
find these days, so we should all appreciate those who do manage to
"swim upstream" and individualize patient care both in terms of time
spent and advice given.
