Is baby pulling off, or falling off?
If baby is pulling off and squirming, he could be uncomfortable. Look
into difficulty handling milk flow, reflux, allergies (I see you already
looked into dairy). Another possibility is that baby has narrow nares or
choanal atresia (the openings in the skull for breathing through the
nose are not fully open) and has to let go to breathe. He could also be
having difficulty with his soft palate (velopharyngeal dysfunction),
will usually have milk drip from the nose or come out the nose during
vomiting, and have harsh respiratory sounds during and after feeding if
this is the case.

If baby is falling off, look for tongue tie or submucosal clefts of the
soft palate. He could be squirming because mom needs to hold him closer
so he can grasp the breast again when he falls off.

If you bring them back in to refine the latch (always a good idea),
watch his coordination of swallowing and breathing and his respiratory
pattern, and let us know what you observe.
