A mother who was nursing in the SLC airpost had an amusing experience, when
a little three year old girl (my Julia) went up to her and asked, "Is that
goat's milk?". Of course, she was a bit shocked! I had to hurry and
explain to her that I was nursing my adopted baby, Joseph and needed to
supplement my milk supply, with goat milk (between his allergies and mine,
and his sensitivity to tastes, there was no commercial formula that worked
with him). The mother never did get that shocked look off of her face,
though!

I would like to thank Katherine for relating her experiences nursing in
airports and on flights. I have done a fair amount of that too, and had
positive experiences, for the most part. On a trip to Alberta, when Joseph
(who is quite obviously adopted) was a baby, a flight attendant even came
and offered to heat up a Lact-Aid for me! I think it is real important for
us to be reminded that, although ridiculous, frustrating things still happen
from time to time, we really have made a tremendous amount of progress, over
the last 20 years!

Darillyn
