Why would anyone want to try to fight the natural hormonal mileu of the body
while pregnant? The placenta is producing the PIF (Prolactin inhibiting
factor) as it is supposed to - while nourishing this new pregnancy. I don't
think much of any thing will change that biological fact. That is why the
milk supply diminishes and begins to revert back to colostrum. Many toddlers
will continue to nurse during a pregnancy even with the decreased supply. The
first clue many women have is sore nipples, I would be amazed if this did not
occur. My second child nursed until about my 7th month with her sister but
decided she didn't like the taste, or the lack of milk, or the fact that she
was getting diarrhea from the increasing levels of colostrum.
Just my .02 worth,
Mary Kay Smith, RNLP, IBCLC
