Generally if you are invited to speak at a workshop or conference, the
conference pays for all travel and lodging expenses, and provides meals
and an honorarium. Honoraria vary depending on the experience, skill,
and professional credentials/accomplishments of the speaker, usually
people start out low and present in their own area, hone their skills,
and then take their show on the road.

Setting prices works just like it does for any other service. What does
it cost you to do the research and put the presentation together? What
does it cost you to be away from your other responsibilities? What would
you have made had you been home and seen your customary number of
clients instead?

There's a group for professional lactation speakers, if you would like
to discuss this more. Look on the lactspeak.com website for information.
