to carol B. re opening a baby's mouth.  I have to disagree here. I have
experienced this with the last 3 out of my 4 children(the 1st we won't even
go into, it was such a disaster). I did not learn to FORCE their mouths open
as your post implies this technique is doing. It is rather a gentle pressure
to drop the jaw to widen an ALREADY OPEN mouth.As someone else mentions it
really only takes a few days for baby to learn that that is what needs to be
done - as I mentioned before I also used a firm toned verbal cue, OPEN.  It
was a former LLL LEader and LC who taught me this.
