Can those of you who have drop-in problem-based bf clinics tell me how that
works for you? We're considering having a drop-in lactation clinic in our
pediatric clinic setting a few times a week.
Do you include family members/husbands, and if so, how do you handle modesty
& privacy issues? Do you have HIPAA releases or confidentiality agreements
signed?
I have fears of being overwhelmed with complicated cases requiring
personalized, time-intensive attention. Do you use it as triage in which
some with simpler problems get all the help they need and others get enough
to get by until the one-on-one appointment another time? Just one LC or
working with a partner?
How do you efficiently chart? We have a computerized system, but how
detailed do you get when you're charting on a bunch of people at once,
especially if someone else might do the follow-up later?
When it's a problem-based group (as opposed to a more general bf support
group), do the mothers talk/support with each other? And if so, what is the
structure of your group or your method to foster that sharing? Is the
arrival time for all mothers at the same time or just whenever during the
designated couple of hours? Even after years of LLL group experience, this
seems so different--without the 'successful' or 'experienced' moms to help
keep things positive and offer others suggestions, without the opening
introductions and setup to get sharing started....
Any other thoughts, suggestions, experiences would be helpful to hear.

Thanks,
Susan Lawrence, RN, IBCLC, LLLL
