I'm sorry, a bit off topic. I wish she wasn't in Russia, I would love
to give my girls a good real case of chicken pox! But Russia is a bit
far to travel.

About nursing, I don't see why she couldn't nurse the baby. If mom gets
it first (ideal) she would impart immunities to her baby. I know a few
people who had CP as infants and they did fine. I think it's a bit more
serious for the very young and older folks--I'd be more worried about
the mom getting it. Are antivirals available in Russia where she is?
I might be a good idea to start mom on one, maybe, but I'm just
thinking off the top of my head, not a doctor, etc. But I don't see
breastfeeding as part of this equation at all, just my 2cents.

She says she can't be isolated from the baby. Her doctor in Russia can't say anything helpful other than how to relieve rash discomfort should the baby get it. Nobody in the family ever had chickenpox.
