Hi All,
Talked to the State Farm public relations person today, who told me that she
would relay my concerns to the corporate office. She said that they would
check out the legalities of the situation with M**d J*****n, to which I told
her that technically what they were doing was not illegal since the US does
not enforce the code, but I did explain to her what the Code was all about
and offered to send her info on it. I asked her if there was a number that
we could call to express our anger and concern, and she said she would look
into it. She will be calling me in a few days to let me know how things are
going on her end. She was veyr concerned about the situation and said that
she hadn't realized that there could be this sort of problem.
She asked what other things could the company do instead of giving out ABM
coupons etc, and I suggested that State Farm talk with the major pump
compainies (Medela, Ameda/Egnell), LLL and work together to provide coupons
for products and referral lists for the different areas for BF help. She
liked that idea, and said she would pass it on.
My reccomendations now for the rest of us would be to call the local State
Farm agents and ask to talk to the public relations folks and then complain
to them and get a whole bunch of them involved in this. The more of them
there are calling the corporate office about this the better.
Oh, I also told her that we would be looking for another ins provider if
State Farm didn't rectify this situation in an appropriate manner. She
asked why, and I told her that I just couldn't do business with a company
that promoted ABM/AIM in violation of the WHO Code.

PS she then went off the record and asked me if I could answer some
questions for her about her sister who had some real problems BF and ended
up failing. Her sis lives in Nebraska in the middle of nowhere and had no
help, but really wanted to BF and was devestated when she failed.
