Dear Pat,
The Monell Center in Philly, which studies the chemical senses of taste and
smell---one of the few labs that does so!---has always done a lot of work for
food companies, and they don't hide that fact. The food industry is one of
their main sources of income. So it follows that they would be available to
work for a formula company.

I think their work on flavors in breastmilk is top-notch. They have been
super-respectful of the women and babies and their breastfeeding
relationship. We are lucky to have them doing this work that is important to
us, and if they have to work for Brand X to pay the bills, I think that's
just Real Life intruding.

Still, you're probably right about vanilla! Just do it, and save their
money---keep the cost of formula down. Can you imagine what's coming....a
choice of flavors in infant formula!!??!! Peach for breakfast, vanilla for
lunch, garlic for supper. I Don't Think So!!
Chris Mulford
