Thanks, Nancy, for your thoughtful posts on breast pumps.  One statement
that might be worth some thought - most of the mothers needing to express
their milk in the rest of the world have no mechanical pump available to
them and must therefore rely on hand expression.  Most do quite well in
providing adequate amts of milk to their babies as well as maintaining a
supply until their babies are able to go the breast.  I heard at a
conference once (can't remember which, of course) that 90% of the world's
available infant incubators are used in the US by US babies.  What do the
preemies in the rest of the world rely on?  Kangaroo Mother Care, of
course! which is the standard of care, not the exception.
