I have to say that I sort of liked the Dairy Board ad I saw on
Radio-Canada last week for the first time. I see your point, though, of
course. I just thought, well, at least there is a beautiful baby
nursing, and that`s a nice change.
Yes, there is that idea around that you have to "drink milk to make
milk". It is part of that continuum, pregnant mom drinking cow`s milk,
breastfeeding mom drinking cow`s milk, prematurely-weaned baby drinking
cow`s milk.
I have probably posted before on a long conversation I had with a
resident in my MD`s office a few years ago, as he went through the "What
are the babies eating now?" routine. Poor man, not only did he have to
learn about why it was healthier not to start with infant cereal, but he
had to figure out that cow's milk would never, ever be "necessary" for
these babies, they would have grown back into a natural state of lactose
intolerance. We finally agreed that I would consult him again when they
had weaned. Of course, by that time he would have had accumulated a bit
more experience (OK, maybe a lot more...)
