Go and be the reasonable voice. yes, babies need to BF, yes, toddlers need
to BF and not be separated long from mom (as in overnight). Yes, daddy
needs time with baby. Mom certainly wants Dad to be involved and spend
quality time with the baby (no matter how mad they are at each other!)
Short visits 3-4 hours are developmentally appropriate for toddlers, even
up to 8 hours if baby is going to day care. Maybe mom and dad can arrange
schedules so dad covers two days while mom is at work, so then baby only
has to be in day care 3 days a week. Makes no sense for mom to work 5 days
a week and then not be able to have weekend for baby , ditto for dad,
juggling schedule is best idea. Increase time gradually, aiming for
overnights around 3, if child seems to be doing ok. Both parents want
what is best for baby, baby is not a possession or pawn to be divvied up,
baby has rights too! Sincerely, Pat in SNJ
