I forgot to mention the baby's age on my last post about BCP and milk supply.
The baby is 4 months old, mom started taking the pills (Alesse) when he was 2
mos old. She quit taking them a week ago when the baby was weighed and had
gained 2 oz in 1 month. That was when WIC gave her formula. It's so tough
knowing how to support her. Beyond all the technical information. Her husband
is not very supportive and her mother in law (who they live with ) is making
wretched comments about the "poor starving baby." She had been giving bottles
of ABM for a week before she called me. She also has two other kids and is
somewhat doubtful about nursing every hour or two to get her supply up. I
just don't know. It's really so sad.

On a positive note, the other mom I helped with supply problems came over
yesterday and my co-leader and I got her going on an SNS, her 2mos old baby
has spent more time at the breast in the last 24 hours than she has in her
life! It's wonderful. Thanks for all the help. It's funny in the last week or
so since I signed on to Lactnet I have received calls from moms that I've
needed extra input on. And here everyone was. It's great how the universe
organizes things this way!
