Elayne,

Instead of choosing one part, why not look at how you could do both?
If you used your grant money to purchase the resources, and charged for the
conference part, could you pull it off?

Ideas on getting the physicians to attend:
Charge and charge dearly... In my experience, if it is free, they will not
come ... maybe they do not view it as valuable (?)

Since the hospital has agreed to supply the meeting place and food, maybe you
could also offer some kind of certification for attending, and ask the
hospital to include this certification as a credential for those HCPs working with
them.

Lots of publicity could also help. If you could make a huge deal about this
fabulous new resource being offered for HCPs in your area (in the newspapers,
on the local news, etc.) Maybe even "plant" some consumers who would ask their
HCPs if they are planning to attend.

Maybe if you could find a well-respected HCP in your community to commit to
attending, and encourage others...

We have an annual breastfeeding conference in our community. We have seen
amazing benefits to the conference. We do not have a huge amount of physicians
who attend, but the number has increased since we stopped begging and bribing
them :)

My problems are:
1) I figured it would take about $2700.00 to do both parts of this plan. I
can probably only do one part
with $1500.00--Which would be the most effective in improving the management
of breastfeeding
problems?
2) If we present the seminar, how do we get the physicians to come? Any
ideas??? Thanks!!
