I prepared a library presentation last year based on the
2001 World Breastfeeding Week theme "Breastfeeding in
the Information Age". A librarian and I updated the
library's breastfeeding materials. To my surprise, she
inserted the above mentioned book title into the library
handout on breastfeeding resources. Not familiar with
this book, I read it and was immediately incensed by its
lack of evidence-based research. It was largely
subjective and antecdotal. The librarian included it b/c
she was providing a balance of author's viewpoints. As
a polite rebuttal, I asked her to order "Don't Kill Your
Baby: Public Health and the Decline of Breastfeeding in
the Nineteenth and Twentieth Centuries" by Jacqueline
Wolf 2001. Although I have not read this book, I thought
it sounded like an informative book, has anyone read it
yet? --
