At my alma mater, Oregon State University, research was conducted that
proved that the Korean version of sauerkraut, kim chee, was a nutritionally
important source of vitamin B-12 for exclusive vegetarians (vegans).  It is
one of only a handful of foods that supply exogenous B-12 (necessary for
life) to vegans.
